Skin Grip and Lissie Poyner Share Intimate Look at Diabetes Through New Podcast

Skin Grip, creators of adhesive tape for diabetic sensors, has teamed up with health coach Lissie Poyner to produce a podcast, Keeping It 100 Radio, covering diabetes topics not discussed in a doctor’s office.

Skin Grip continues their frequent partnerships with influencers in the diabetes community by collaborating on a new podcast hosted by certified health coach Lissie Poyner. Poyner, who has Type 1 Diabetes, uses her podcast to offer an unvarnished look at the issues that confront people with diabetes on a day to day basis.

Skin Grip makes adhesive patches and tape to keep diabetic sensors in place. These adhesive patches for the Dexcom G6 and other continuous glucose monitors are used to keep these costly, difficult-to-replace sensors from falling off and getting broken or lost.

Poyner began the podcast with a testimonial, stating, “My Dexcom would last maybe four or five days before falling off…now I can confidently travel, work out, and navigate life with diabetes without having to worry about dealing with insurance more than I have to, begging for replacements and resorting to finger pricks. Plus, I’m in love with their mission to help us live fearlessly with diabetes.”

The first episode of the podcast was released on September 24 and introduces Poyner to the audience with her personal experience as a college freshman receiving an unexpected diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. After graduating, Poyner attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to educate herself on using nutrition to effectively manage her own diabetes and ulcerative colitis. Now, Poyner works with a team to pass that knowledge to others.

In the past, Skin Grip has worked with influencers like Lauren Bongiorno and Ariana Frayer to create new adhesives and tapes for diabetic sensors and promote innovative ways to manage diabetes while living an active lifestyle. Isaac Parkinson, president of Skin Grip, claims these partnerships are to encourage people with diabetes to live fearlessly. “When diabetics feel fearless, they can accomplish the extraordinary.”

Poyner’s podcast, Keeping It 100 Radio, can be found on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. To learn more about Skin Grip’s cost-effective adhesives, go to www.SkinGrip.com. Listeners can use the code “LISSIE” to receive a discount on adhesive patches for Dexcom, Medtronic, Omnipod, Eversense, and Abbott Freestyle Libre sensors.

Poyner’s previous work as a health coach has centered on educating and supporting people with diabetes who need resources to understand their condition and how to manage it.
