And there’s a whole host of fun things to do both outdoors and in without spending the big bucks. The acclaimed comedy show Wild Wild Christian tells one woman’s wild experience at a Christian summer camp, the GeekCraft Expo offers an impressive selection of pop culture-related handmade merch, plus so much more. Read on for all the convenient and affordable offerings at your disposal this weekend.

FRIDAY

COMEDY

Wild Wild Christian
Fans of the 2018 Netflix docuseries Wild Wild Country, this one’s for you. This comedy show takes you through comedian Simone McAlonen’s journey through puberty, spiritual evolution, and sexual frustration….all while living at a Christian summer camp. Written with material from McAlonen’s middle school journals, get a glimpse of what happened to the sprawling property that infamously used to be known as Rajneeshpuram. The Portland Mercury’s Blair Stenvick writes, “Some of the biggest laughs come when McAlonen’s references the Rajneeshees—she thanks God for starting a fire that burns down a key cult leader’s home on the camp property—but the most effective parts of the play focus on the inherent contradictions that come with being an adolescent in any kind of devout culture.
Siren Theater, Old Town-Chinatown ($10-$15)
