Preservation Biscuit Co, in Falls Church City – Report

Tried three biscuit sandwiches here recently. One roast beef, one fried chicken, and one bbq pork. The woman taking my order chirped in that the roast beef was listed as one of the top 25 sandwiches by the Washington Post. I then started thinking I was in trouble….. those lists are like a pat on the back and the kiss of death.

Starting off with the touted roast beef, this was the worst of the three. The roast beef was good, but was overcome by two sauces. One an inexplicable orange sauce that looked like Buffalo sauce but without the flavor, and the other a white sauce which I wished had no flavor.

The pork bbq was, of course, not bbq, but with a bbq sauce. No real surprise there, and the sandwich was inoffensive.

The fried chicken was the best, but even here the biscuit did not have the structural integrity to hold together.

I am beginning to think that biscuits do not make good sandwich meals. A small biscuit with country ham, yes, but these bigger concoctions leave a lot to be desired. And to add insult to injury, overpriced.

Did Wagshal’s make it on the Post list? Probably hot hipster enough.
