UPDATED: Here’s Where You Can Cool Off During the Heatwave
Update 7/30 9 pm:
The Sunrise Center and Portland Building cooling centers will be open Saturday, July 31, from noon to 6 pm. Pets are allowed and Portlanders can call 2-1-1 to arrange transportation to a cooling center.

Portland is facing another heatwave this weekend with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s forecasted through the weekend. Governor Kate Brown has issued an emergency declaration due to the heat and the National Weather Service has a heat warning in place through at least Saturday, July 31.
Here’s where you and your neighbors can go to cool off:
Masks are required at all indoor cooling centers and library branches.
Cooling centers open July 29 and 30, noon to 9 pm:

How to help:
The city and county are seeking volunteers to help staff the cooling centers during the heatwave. Volunteers can sign up for shifts at both indoor and outdoor cooling spaces here. Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
Anyone can email the Joint Office of Homeless Services (JOHS) to make an appointment to pick up water and personal protective equipment from the office’s downtown warehouse for distribution as well.
Lastly, check in on your housed and unhoused neighbors to make sure they have the resources they need to get through another heatwave.
