Precision Machining Industry Spending Light a Bright Path for PMTS 2021

The Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS), taking place August 10-12, 2021, in Cleveland, OH, announced today its optimism for a quick rebound in the precision machining industry. As one of the first trade shows in this industry to return to pre-pandemic on-site event plans and operations, economic indicators and early registration numbers support its expectations to meet or exceed previous levels of attendee and exhibitor participation.

“We couldn’t be happier to see the world opening back up and returning to normal and we’re excited to welcome back this dynamic community, with everyone’s safety at the top of our priority list” states Allison Kline Miller, Chief Events Officer for Gardner Business Media. “It’s the precision machining industry event everyone looks forward to and we’re optimistic this year will be no different.”

Recent news from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine underlines PMTS’ trajectory to experience exceptional success. As of June 2nd, the Ohio Department of Health has removed most COVID-19 health orders, including facial covering protocols, group capacity limits and social distancing restrictions. PMTS will remain vigilant in safety and security measures, while creating a crowd-pleasing atmosphere most beneficial for showcasing new technologies and services, bringing precision machining buyers and sellers together and promoting professional development across its entire three days.

Ohio’s notice ending health orders is welcome news on the heels of Gardner Business Intelligence (GBI) announcing the most wide-spread economic recovery and growth in all major manufacturing industries since GBI began in 2011.

Steve Kline Jr., Chief Data Officer for GBI, says, “Strong economic conditions like these, which we haven’t seen in more than five years, mean that machine shops are wholeheartedly eager to invest back in their businesses. We know that the average owner plans to spend more than $642,000 on capital equipment in the next 12 months. Although it is taking a bit longer for new machines to be delivered due to global supply chain disruptions, shop owners are using that time to reinvest in technology, automation, and software that will make their employees more efficient and productive.” [View Video]

“When you combine the three positive trends we are seeing – the steadily growing response to attending PMTS in person, the knowledge that Ohio is making it easier and more comfortable to travel and interact and the outstanding economic market conditions for manufacturers – it’s next to impossible not to be enthusiastic and feel motivated. Our members need PMTS this year more than ever to gather safely, share and gain information and move the precision machine products market forward,” observes Cate Smith, Executive Director of the PMPA. “In addition, during a recent visit to the convention center, I was very impressed with the improvements they’ve made in response to the pandemic, including special microbial handrails on the escalator with UV light treatment, more touchless doors and new technology in the HVAC to scrub the air, among other hygiene improvements,” she says.

The PMTS exhibit hall is more than 80% sold, but space is still available. For attendee and exhibitor information and to register, visit PMTS.com.
