My friend and I have been working on an exocet for the past few months, and sort of lost track of things when it came to paint time. We ended up painting our car frame using Sherwin Williams Brilliant.

It looks orange, but the texture is extremely grippy (unsurprisingly) and dirt is sticking to it like a magnet. It’s also extremely soft and wearing out. We need a way to cover it, but I can’t figure out what clearcoat we should use. Do we want a spar urethane? a lacquer, a varnish? I’d really appreciate your guidance on:

  1. What clear coat (if any) should I use on this latex paint and have it hold up over time, given its use case as an outdoor car?
