EverOut is The Mercury’s new website devoted to things to do in Portland and across the Pacific Northwest. It has all the same things you’re used to seeing from Mercury EverOut, just in a new spot!

Portland General Electric plans to restore power to all but 15,000 Portland homes by Friday night, but if you’re in one of the households that’s still waiting on your electricity to return, read on for some ways to get supplies in the interim. We also have a brand-new batch of picks for activities and IRL events, from The Mercury‘s Love in the Time of COVID comedy drive-in to BodyVox’s drive-in dance film Figments, and from a Girl Scout cookie and wine pairing package to things to get for your favorite Pisces (like balms and tinctures from Flutter). For even more options, read our guides to the best online events this week and the best movies to watch this week.

FOOD & DRINK
Celebrate Cherry Pie Day and Twin Peaks Day. “Diane, 11:30 am, February 24. Entering the town of Twin Peaks, five miles south of the Canadian border, twelve miles west of the state line. I’ve never seen so many trees in my life.” With these words spoken into his trusty tape recorder, Kyle McLachlan’s character Agent Dale Cooper forever cemented February 24 as “Twin Peaks Day,” a day dedicated to the creepy, cult-favorite David Lynch series filmed in Washington. Just days earlier, this Saturday, February 20, is another holiday that the lovably eccentric special agent would definitely approve of: Cherry Pie Day. Celebrate either (or both!) of these occasions by partaking in Cooper’s favorite pastime: enjoying a slice of “cherry pie that’ll kill ya” alongside a cup of “damn fine coffee.” For the former, check out Lauretta Jean’s, Petunia’s Pies & Pastries, or Banning’s Restaurant and Pie House, and for the latter, try Good Coffee, La Perlita, or Cafe Zamora—just make sure there’s not a fish in the percolator. Alternatively, DIY your own Black Lodge-inspired pie using the unauthorized Twin Peaks cookbook, Damn Fine Cherry Pie. Marathon the surreal soap opera satire on Netflix as you savor your coffee and pie, and make sure you give yourself some time to indulge. In the words of Agent Cooper himself: “Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store. A catnap in your office chair. Or two cups of good, hot black coffee. Like this.”
