I’ve hung multiple T.V. mounts in drywall. Not very difficult, so I quickly agreed when a friend asked.

However, they want in hung over their fireplace (which they say they won’t use so no heat + electronics worries). Anyway, I’m not sure the best process for figuring out whats behind the veneer. I don’t know if it’s drywall + studs or plywood or ???

I don’t think the stones are strong enough to hold the mount + tv. I also don’t want to just start drilling random exploratory holes.

Can someone offer some guidance on figuring out what’s behind the stone? Thanks for your help.
