DIY partition wall

DIY partition wall

I really want to install these $35 decorative screen panels on my apartment balcony to get more privacy…

Nice looking panels.

…but I can’t drill into the ceiling to hang them with hooks, and I can’t afford the $293 standing frame that Wayfair sells here.

Frame kit is too expensive.

I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I can do to create a partition with these panels that doesn’t damage my balcony.

Because I have a typical California 1960s cement balcony with a cement (stucco) railing and cement (stucco) ceiling overhead, I’m considering building a vertical frame that utilizes wood beams that go floor to ceiling that function like tension rods.

Sort of similar to how this Ikea hacker utilized tension rods to support their bed frame partition. But I’m hoping to have the vertical posts be wood, because the pvc/white tension rods are ugly to me.

I’m just not sure how to go about this, besides cutting them the appropriate length, and then to include a tension-rod like piece on the ends – a twist knob that drills into the center of each side? Is there a dedicated tension rod piece that can be added to wood beams? I’m not sure what I’m looking for on the tension portion.

Then I’m hoping after installing these beams, I can hang these partition screens.

Is this the wrong way to go?

Should I be thinking about replicating the standing frame with legs instead?

Here’s a photo to get an idea of the balcony. Not me, but a youtuber who tried a similar project, except she built a Catio.

Not me, but her project turned out awesome too
